So let us check out some easy ways to prevent Cancer these include changes in lifestyle and one can drastically cut down the risk of many types of cancer.
·         Avoid smoking: It is the most significant cancer causing risk factor.
·         Avoid exposure to smoke: This is also called second hand smoking and is the smoke exhaled by the one who is smoking as this smoke contains carcinogens which interfere in the normal cell growth and increase the risk of cancer development?
·         Limit alcohol consumption: Excessive amounts of alcohol increase the risk of many types of cancer.
·         Exercise regularly to help prevent cancer: The American Cancer Institute has recommended exercising 30 or more minutes, at least 5 days a week for cancer prevention.
·         Limit animal fat and red meat: Studies suggest that animal fat increases the risk of cancer. A high fat diet is one of the major causes of obesity which is a risk factor of many types of cancer.
·         Eat fruits and vegetables: A diet rich in fruits and vegetables reduce the risk of developing cancer as they contain antioxidants which help in repairing damaged cells.  Fruits like blueberry and grapes have anti cancer properties.
·         Move safely in the sun: Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer and is one of the most preventable types of cancer. The first step in preventing cancer is to avoid UV exposure.  One can wear sunscreen, avoid mid day sun, wear protective clothing etc.
·         Know your family history: Knowing the family history is important to access the risk factor for certain types of cancer. Breast, colon, ovarian, is some of the types of cancers which are considered hereditary.

·         Always know what you are being exposed to in your work place: Chemicals in the workplace increases the risk of developing cancer like colon and kidney cancer. If one is exposed to fumes, dust etc you have the legal right to know what you are being exposed to. Also to ask your employer limiting the exposure.
·         Practice safe sex: Unsafe sex can result in infection of HPV virus, which is a known of cervical cancer.
·         Get screened for cancer regularly: Cancer screening tests can help prevent it. A few examples of such tests are colonoscopy, Pap smear etc.
Let us all join hands in the fight against cancer.
